Grand Canyon Hike Day #2

dsc02251Sunrise inside the Grand Canyon…dsc02252dsc02254Slept pretty well, only got cold at one point in the night.  I was so sore when I woke up, and that is an understatement.  It was like learning to walk all over again.  I waddled around for an hour and my muscles ached everywhere.  Patched up the feet, had to wrap toes in duct tape, I knew it was come in handy; and made breakfast.  Had Huevos Rancheros.  Did not read that you had to add water and cook it on the stove!  So we just added water and ate it, it was mushy but we got the calories at least!  dsc02255All ready to hike the 7.5 miles back to Bright Angel campground on day #2.  Started out and maybe 200 feet away a rock fell and hit Missy on her head and she was bleeding.  A rock about the size of 2 quarters.  Ended up needing stitches when we exited the canyon and returned to Phx.  Wow huh?  I was right behind her too!  dsc02257We were going to take the trail to see Rainbow Falls but we needed to hurry the 7 miles to have a ranger look at her head.  So here it is from far away.  dsc02258Its crazy the wildlife you see here, like this mule deer, everywhere.  We got back around4pm so the hike took about 5 hours to go 7 miles!  We were sore and that pack was even heavier (or it felt like it).  We sat at Phantom Ranch before picking out a campsite at bright angel and I went and bought two little bags of pretzels, 2 apples, and 2 cups of…LEMONADE!  Only the best I have ever had (after hiking in this hot sun).  It was like heaven in the canyon.  Good thing I brought money, they know how to get you!  Dollar refills too so I went back later that night lol!  For dinner: Jamaican BBQ chicken and more hot cocoa, even better!

It was the most amazing thing, and so peaceful, just the birds and sound of the Colorado river nearby.
